Carl Oscar BORG (born March 3, 1879, Grinstad, Sweden–died May 8, 1947, Santa Barbara, California, US) came to the United States in 1901 after studying under portrait artist George Johnasen in London. Borg was influenced by the nature of the Southwestern United States, specifically Arizona and New Mexico. He worked in various mediums which included oil, watercolor, etchings and woodblock prints. He was commissioned to paint posters for the railway company, Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, and is also known for his dramatic paintings of the Grand Canyon.
